Description
Pre-Production Serial Number EXP1 Winchester Model 42 Shotgun Factory Engraved Pre-Production Serial Number EXP1 Winchester Model 42 Limited Edition High Grade Slide Action Shotgun. Manufactured for Winchester by Miroku in Japan on a limited basis with this particular gun being the first of a pre-production experimental run of what would become a full run of only 850 guns, thus this gun bears the serial number "WFTEXP1". The gun was previously listed as having been given as a gift to well-known collectors Peter and Patty Murray in 1997 from the then president of U.S. Repeating Arms Co./Browning. Built with a blued steel barrel featuring a single white bead sight on the matted vent rib, Winchester markings on the left of the barrel with import mark opposite, choke marked "FULL", and a 3 inch chamber. The barrel is mated to the blued action which displays extensive scroll engraving on either side with gold wire inlaid borders. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured forend with double diamond checkering and a pistol grip stock with multi-point checkered wrist, blued steel grip cap, and a checkered factory buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull Excellent overall condition, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes with limited handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
