Winchester Model 70 XTR Sporter Magnum 338 Win Mag 24" Bolt Action Rifle

The Winchester Model 70 XTR Sporter Magnum is a highly regarded, premium-tier iteration manufactured primarily during the late 1970s and 1980s. The "XTR" designation represents Winchester's era of extra-high refinement, featuring deeply polished, rich high-gloss bluing on the steel and an elegant, semi-gloss finished walnut stock with crisp cut checkering. Rifles from the XTR era utilized Winchester's robust "push-feed" bolt system featuring a plunger ejector and a face-mounted extractor. Chambered in the hard-hitting .338 Winchester Magnum and paired with a 24-inch barrel, this configuration was purpose-built as an exceptionally capable, long-range heavy-game rifle for North American species like elk, moose, and brown bear.
