BYF/Mauser-Werke ~ Gewehr 98 ~ 8mm Mauser

The Gewehr 98 (abbreviated G98, Gew 98, or M98) is a bolt-action rifle made by Mauser for the German Empire as its service rifle from 1898 to 1935. Though the production of the M98 system for the German military ceased at the end of World War II in 1945, the production of new Mauser M 98 and Mauser M 98 Magnum rifles for civil users has continued using both repurposed military systems as well as newly made systems from several manufacturers worldwide. New systems were being manufactured not only by the Mauser GmbH in Germany, but also by FN in Belgium, Zbrojovka Brno in Czechoslovakia and Zastava in Yugoslavia. This example is from 1942 and produced by BYF/Mauser. It's still in good shape and would make a nice shooter for range day or an addition to your surplus collection. There are plenty of German Military markings on this one.
