This Colt Single Action Army, with a black powder frame, circa 1893 represents one of the most iconic revolvers of the American frontier era. Chambered in .41 Colt, this example features the early-style frame with a screw-retained cylinder pin, characteristic of pre-1896 production. Its six-shot, single -action mechanism and solid frame design reflect the craftsmanship and durability that made the SAA legendary. The U.S. Ordnance Dept. directed these revolvers to be refurbishing or refinishing of these revolvers in 1893 by Springfield Armory, Colt in 1896, Springfield Armory in 1898, and 1900-1903 Spanish American War in he Phillipines. In 1896 many of the refurbished Revolvers that Colt did were issued to the Rough Riders. This revolver's patina and period-correct features highlight its authenticity and historical significance as a transitional model from the black powder to the smokeless powder era.
