Description
This Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 is a classic 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol featuring the desirable blued finish and factory wood grip panels. Serial number A156734 appears to place production in approximately mid-1971, and the pistol remains in good overall vintage condition with honest handling wear visible on the finish and grip panels. Included with the firearm is a signed certificate stating that the pistol was owned and shot by Clint Smith, founder of Thunder Ranch. Introduced as an evolution of the original Model 39, the Smith & Wesson 39-2 was one of America's pioneering double-action 9mm service pistols and helped pave the way for the company's later semi-automatic handgun designs. The lightweight alloy-frame design, single-stack magazine, and double-action/single-action operation made the Model 39-2 popular with law enforcement officers, armed professionals, and civilian shooters throughout the 1970s and beyond, earning it a respected place in Smith & Wesson history.
