If you don't have an optic, leave that foam in place and you won't even know it is cut out. There are also perforations below the barrel for a flashlight or laser. Remove if you have them or leave in place if you don't. The magazine cutouts and pistol grip have a finger hole so you can remove either the gun or a magazine quickly and safely.
