It does close the gap at the rear of the receiver and act as a dust cover to keep out dirt and debris. This end cap does have a small air hole in it to keep out rain and dust. This end cap also does not come with the buffer or screw in post installed. With the plastic end cap you can keep the factory railed end cap on your H&K 93 and keep the railed endcap off to use the more compact end cap.
