Description
The New Service revolvers were in production from 1898 until 1941. They are the "heavy" handguun of the day featuring chamberings up through .45 Colt and .357 Magnum. They saw service in WWI as sidearms chambered in .45 ACP when the armories were struggling with production of the 1911. Their power made them a popular firearm for police as they could pierce car doors. This one is the 7-1/2 version with fixed sights. The YOM is 1918, and the letter states it shipped in 1920. It is in good condition overall with most of the blue remaining. There is wear along the sharp edges. The engravings and stamps are all clear and crisp. There is a patch of "scratching" on the right side as if an owner rubbed out a bit of rust.
