When installing the extractor in your springfield Prodigy, it is essential to adhere to the precise installation steps to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Start by loosening the right-side cover plate screw before proceeding with the installation. Once the extractor is properly seated, securely tighten the screw to ensure a firm fit and proper functionality. Our extractors are crafted from superior-grade steel, a significant advancement over the materials available in 1911 when the original 1911 pistol was first manufactured. The enhancements in our manufacturing process include the use of advanced alloys, precision-controlled furnaces, vacuum heat treatment, State-of-the-art tooling and finite element analysis. These improvements collectively contribute to the production of a highly reliable and durable extractor. During operation, the extractor engages with the relief groove on the ammunition casing with each shot fired. Traditional designs often suffer from hook dulling due to constant impact with the casing, leading to tension loss and potential jamming, which can compromise accuracy. To address these issues, we have innovatively reduced the distance from the bolt face to the extractor hook. Unlike conventional designs that feature a straight right-angle cut, our extractor is machined at an acute angle, providing a larger surface area for the hook to securely engage the casing. Recognizing that right angles are a common weak point in other extractors, we have incorporated radii on both sides of our design to enhance strength and durability. The hook is precisely machined with a specialized cutter, resulting in a clean radius in the inside corner, a common failure point in other extractors. Furthermore, our extractor undergoes vacuum heat treatment, endowing it with exceptional spring properties and the ability to maintain tension for over 70,000 rounds.
