This particular configuration, the Geissele Border Patrol 5.56 NATO 14.5" 08-421B, pairs that 14.5" barrel with a mid-length gas system machined from precipitation-hardened 17-4 stainless steel, with the gas block pinned and set-screwed in place so alignment stays put rather than drifting after hard use. Weight matters on a 14.5 AR15 build, so Geissele fitted the Border Patrol with a skeletonized 20 Super Modular Rail, cutting mass without sacrificing rigidity.
