At 4.15 overall length the flash hider is long enough to bring a 12.5 barrel up to legal non-NFA overall length when pin and welded in place a common configuration for shooters who want a shorter barrel without the NFA paperwork of an SBR. The 1/2x28 thread pitch threads directly onto standard 5.56 AR-15 barrels. Heat treatment hardens the flash hider against the extreme temperatures generated by sustained firing strings helping it resist warping or discoloration over time.
