The Kowa BDIII XD 10x50 pairs 10x magnification with a large 50mm objective for enhanced light-gathering in low-light conditions, making it well-suited for early morning, dusk, and overcast observation. As with the rest of the BDIII XD line, it's expected to feature Kowa Prominar XD (extra-low dispersion) lens elements, KR hydrophobic exterior lens coatings to repel water and dirt, and phase-corrected prisms for bright, high-contrast images. The magnesium alloy chassis is wrapped in protective rubber armor for secure, rugged handling in the field, with nitrogen purging and O-ring sealing for waterproof, fogproof performance. At 25.5 oz, it's the heaviest model in the BDIII XD series, trading some portability for the added brightness and reach that come with a larger objective. Like the rest of the lineup, it's intended for birdwatching, hunting, and general outdoor observation where low-light performance is a priority.
