Description
The Manurhin P1 is a licensed, French-manufactured variant of the iconic Walther P38, chambered in 9mm Parabellum. Built mostly during the 1960s, these pistols featured lightweight aluminum alloy frames and were primarily issued to the West Berlin police. Because the post-WWII Four Powers Agreement prohibited West Berlin police from carrying German-manufactured firearms, Walther manufactured parts in Germany and shipped them to France for assembly and proof-testing by Manurhin. These pistols are highly collectible and often identified by the following details: Slide Markings: These models bear the Manurhin factory logo, "Made in France," and some slides carry WWII-era markings like crossed cannons (from a cancelled Portuguese contract). Police Proof: They feature a distinctive "Berlin flower" (rosette) stamped on the left side of the trigger guard or frame. Action & Capacity: They use a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) mechanism with an 8-round magazine capacity and a functioning decocker.
