Yugoslavian Mauser M-48 Rifle, 8mm Mauser, 23 inch Barrel

The Yugoslavian Mauser M48 chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.9257mm) with a 23.25-inch barrel is a rugged, highly dependable military surplus bolt-action rifle. Manufactured post-WWII by Preduzeće 44 (Enterprise 44, later known as Zastava Arms) between 1950 and 1965, the M48 was built as the standard service rifle for the Yugoslav People's Army. While it closely resembles the famous German Karabiner 98k, the M48 is technically an "intermediate-length" Mauser action. This means its receiver and bolt are approximately 1/4 inch shorter than a standard 98k, making their internal parts and stocks non-interchangeable.
