Yugo Zastava M48A 8mm Mauser Rifle CR - Auction Made by Zastava Arms Original Military rifle Yugo Crest Collectable markings Bolt-action Matching Numbers Rifle (receiver, bolt, stock, floorplate) 8mm Mauser caliber 23.25" barrel length CR eligible NRA rated Good condition *Please Note -front sight hood is missing small rust/ pitting area on barrel and front sight The Zastava M48 is a post World War II Yugoslavian version of the Belgian designed M24 series rifles with some influence from the German Kar98k.  This was the standard service rifle of the Yugoslav People's Army from the early 1950's until its replacement by the Zastava M59/66, a licensed copy of the Soviet SKS semiautomatic carbine, in the early 1960's.  The M48A model was produced from 1952-1965 and includes stamped parts along with sheet metal stampings for the magazine floor plate.  These changes sped up production while lowering overall cost.  The bolt and receiver retained the same material requirements and design tolerances in the "A' and "B" model variations.
