Description
The Remington 40-X was born in the 1950s when benchrest shooting was going from weekend hobby to serious competition, and Remington built something that could win matches straight from the factory. Remington called it "the most accurate production rifle ever made" in 1955. Bold claim, but the 40-X delivered. These rifles shot sub-MOA groups when most factory rifles were happy keeping everything inside 2 inches at 100 yards. The heavy barrel and precision manufacturing meant this thing could compete with custom rifles costing twice as much. The 40-X became the foundation for countless custom builds. Gunsmiths would start with a 40-X action and build world-class competition rifles around it. That robust bolt design and smooth cycling made it a favorite platform that's still respected today. This example is still in great shape and comes with Redfield Olympic Model sights.
