Remington introduced the 5MM Remington Magnum in 1969 and produced rifles for it until 1974. The cartridge is still produced by Aguila. The ballistics show it as having MV around 2300 fps and energies around 370 ft-lb. The rifles themselves were noted for their accuracy, and fill the bill for varmint hunting, target shooting, and pest control.
