For your consideration, the Remington 722 bolt-action rifle chambered in .257 Roberts. Considered by Remington to be the first truly modern centerfire rifle, the 722 is the short action version of the Remington 721. Chambered from .222 to .308 these were produced from 1948 through 1962. This model was manufactured in July 1950 based on the barrel code.
