Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, it features a 24-inch barrel with U.S. Ordnance Flaming Bomb markings, a WWII-era Scant stock, and barrel date codes that may range from pre-World War I to World War II due to arsenal refurbishment. Built on a low serial number receiver (see manufacturer disclaimer), these rifles are best appreciated as historic collector's firearms. Each rifle is CR eligible, NRA rated Good or better surplus condition, and may display typical service wear, mixed-era components, and minor missing parts such as the front sling swivel, reflecting its authentic military service history. The M1903 Springfield was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1903 after the Spanish–American War exposed the shortcomings of the Krag–Jørgensen rifle. Based largely on Mauser designs, it featured a stronger action, stripper-clip loading, and the powerful .30-06 Springfield cartridge. The M1903 served as the standard U.S. service rifle during World War I and remained widely used in World War II, later continuing in sniper roles through the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Today, it is a highly respected military collectible and historic American service rifle. These parts can be brittle may fracture when fired, exposing the shooter to risk of serious injury or death. Do not fire: Any Springfield Armory M1903 with a receiver serial number below approx. "800,000"; any Rock Island Arsenal M1903 with a receiver serial number below "285,508"; or, any bolt with a straight down handle profile (a known profile for low number bolts).
