Springfield 1873 ″Trapdoor″ .45-70 Single Shot Rifle

The Springfield Model 1873 was the U.S. military's first standard-issue, breech-loading rifle. Famous for its hinged breechblock that flipped open like a "trapdoor," it fired the powerful .45-70 Government cartridge. Widely used during the American Indian Wars, it remained in service into the early 20th century.
