Springfield Armory Model 1884 Trapdoor 45-70 Government 32.625" Rifle

The U.S. Springfield Model 1884 "Trapdoor" Infantry Rifle featuring a 32.625" (32⅝ inch) barrel is the definitive, standard-issue long arm used by the United States military during the late 19th century. Manufactured by the historic Springfield Armory from 1885 until approximately 1890, this weapon represents the absolute pinnacle of development for the hinged breechblock "trapdoor" mechanism originally engineered by Erskine S. Allin.
