Description
The Armaspec Sound Mitigation Buffer Gen 3 SMB-9 is a captured, single-stage drop-in buffer and spring kit for the AR-9 carbine chambered in 9mm Luger. It replaces the standard buffer and spring in the buffer tube and is designed to keep the spring from rubbing against the inner wall of the tube, aiming for smoother and quieter operation. The kit is also intended to reduce felt recoil.
The main spring is adjustable: it can be trimmed at 0.25 lb per coil to reduce tension, up to a maximum of 12 coils. The kit is black in color. For proper function in a 9mm rifle or pistol, the extra weight on the back of the bolt carrier must be removed, as it is held in place with a spring pin.
