Description
The Beretta Olimpia (often spelled Olympia) chambered in .22 LR with a 20.5-inch barrel is one of the most mechanically unique rimfire rifles ever manufactured. Produced from the 1950s through the 1980s, it served as both a military/police training rifle for the Italian armed forces and a high-end civilian target rifle. Push the bolt handle forward and down to lock it into the forward position. In this mode, the rifle utilizes a simple blowback action. Firing a shot automatically cycles the bolt, ejects the spent case, and loads the next round from the magazine. Pull the bolt handle straight back and lock it upward into a rear detent slot. This completely locks the action closed. After firing a shot, you must manually lift and cycle the bolt to eject and reload. Bolt-action mode was used for maximum precision target shooting (as it eliminated the vibration of moving semi-auto parts), while semi-automatic mode was utilized for rapid-fire practice and training.
