Enfield NO 4 MK1 Rifle, .303 British,22″ Barrel

The Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 produced by a British Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) in .303 British with a 22-inch barrel represents a classic chapter in post-WWII surplus history. Because standard military-issued No. 4 Mk 1 rifles were strictly built with heavy, 25.2-inch barrels, a 22-inch length indicates a "sporterized" or civilian-modified hunting rifle. Major firms like Parker-Hale, along with individual gunsmiths, purchased these rugged surplus rifles by the thousands, cutting down the barrels and modifying the stocks to create fast-handling, lightweight deer and big-game rifles.
