Description
Forward Controls Design V2 Enhanced Magazine Release Extended Serrated Lever EMR-A v2 Short serrated. EMR-A v2 (2024 to present) replaced the v1 EMR-A (2017 to 2024). EMR-A v2 uses the familiar and superb Norgon Ambi-Catch mechanism where the entire mag catch plate pivots when pressed on the left side whereas EMR-A v1 used an aluminum lever attached to the magazine release plate and when the lever is pressed the plate is lifted away from the receiver. EMR-A v2 Short bears striking resemblance to the Norgon Ambi-Catch since it uses the Norgon mechanism. The short EMR-A v2 has the texture we designed for EMR-A i.e. 20percent of the textured section is raised and forms a shelf to provide additional purchase. EMR-A v2 Short has a small plate/lever there isn't much surface area to work with this in turn makes a good texture more important. For duty and defense ARs we recommend the short lever as the plate sits inside the mag catch slot and is lower in profile. A 10.9lb rated magazine catch spring is included with each EMR-A. We've long considered the standard magazine catch spring to be rather weak (rated at 8.3lb) accidental / unintended mag drops can take place if a user slings his weapon and has gear and pouches on the vest. A stiffer mag catch spring mitigates these risks thus it is an integral part in the EMR-A package. EMR-A v2 is shipped with a 10.9 in lb spring. While EMR-A v2 doesn't use the main mag catch since it has its own spring the 10.9 in lb spring makes the right side mag catch button stiffer and less prone to accidental magazine drops. The LP (low profile) mag catch shaft reduces the mag catch shaft length by a full revolution or 0.03. The LP option on the EMR-A reduces the installed height of the right hand mag release button resulting in a right side mag release button that sits below the mag release fence. This is our latest step to mitigate accidental / unintended mag drop risks. The LP on the EMR-A will not reduce the EMR-HC's installed height on an AR15/M16 to the point where EMR-HC doesn't constitute accidental / unintended mag drop risks. The LP option's shorter mag catch shaft aims to reduce the installed height of a TDP spec mag release button (such as our EMR-H) it isn't a solution for extended mag releases the installed height of which would require a drastically shorter shaft to offset.
