J.C. Higgins 583.6 Shotgun, 20 Gauge, 26″ Barrel

The J.C. Higgins Model 583.6 (more broadly known as part of the J.C. Higgins Model 583 series) is a mid-century, tube-fed bolt-action 20-gauge shotgun featuring a 26-inch barrel. Sold exclusively through Sears, Roebuck & Co. under their private house brand "J.C. Higgins", these guns were contracted out to major American firearms manufacturers. The 583 series was built entirely on a classic bolt-action platform, which was surprisingly popular for field shotguns from the late 1940s through the 1950s
