Mauser Standard Model Rifle, 22-2500 Remington, 26 inch Barrel

The Mauser Standard Model receiver chambered in .22-250 Remington with a heavy 26-inch barrel is a classic example of a sporterized or custom benchrest varmint rifle built on a historic military action. The original Standard model was a military-pattern bolt-action rifle developed by Mauser in 1924 (and produced heavily in the 1930s) chambered in the heavy 7.9257mm Mauser cartridge. Because these actions feature the legendary, ultra-strong Mauser 98 dual-locking lug system, thousands were imported post-WWII and re-barreled by gunsmiths into high-velocity, flat-shooting commercial varmint calibers like the .22-250 Remington.
