Uberti Springfield Trapdoor Army 45-70 Government 32.5" Single Shot Rifle

Uberti Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Features The Uberti Springfield Trapdoor Rifle .45-70 faithfully follows the design of the 1873 Springfield Trapdoor-America's first standard-issue .45-70 cartridge rifle. Originally developed as an evolution of the Allin conversion system the Trapdoor action allowed the Army to adopt the more powerful .45-70 cartridge while retaining a simple robust mechanism. Full-stocked rifles with long 32 barrels such as this recreation became the backbone of U.S. infantry firepower in the 1870s. With their new Trapdoor Carbines and Rifles Custer and the 7th Cavalry rode to the Battle of the Little Bighorn securing the model's place in frontier history and linking the design forever to the American West's most dramatic military moments. This reproduction captures that storied profile through its long blue-steel barrel A-grade satin walnut stock and case-hardened furniture. The Trapdoor's hinged breechblock provides simple reliable operation while the six-groove 1:20 right-hand twist stabilizes .45-70 bullets effectively across a wide range of loads. With a commanding 51.9 overall length and an 8.8-pound weight the rifle delivers steady off-hand control and the deliberate authoritative feel that defined the original Springfield infantry rifles.
