Wheeler Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kit 30mm

The Wheeler Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kit is a gunsmithing tool set for mounting scopes in 30mm rings. It has two uses: checking that the front and rear rings are aligned, and lapping the inside of the rings to improve their contact with the scope tube.

The kit includes two alignment rods, an 8-inch steel lapping rod with a plastic ball handle, and a 1 oz jar of 220 grit silicon carbide lapping compound. Lapping smooths machining marks inside the rings, which can reduce scope shifting and help prevent scratches on the scope finish. Properly aligned rings spread the clamping load more evenly across the scope tube, while misaligned rings can stress the tube and affect adjustments. Scopes should be re-sighted in after using the kit.
