Yugo M48 Sporter 8mm Mauser CR Rifle - Auction Manufactured by Zastava Made in Yugoslavia Bolt-action rifle Sporterized Yugo Military surplus rifle 8mm Mauser caliber Yugo crest on receiver Non-matching numbers 23.25" barrel length Intermediate-length action CR eligible  Rated Fair to Poor surplus condition (bolt sticks, rust/ pitting on barrel) Sold "As Is" The Yugo M48 Sporter 8mm Mauser is a bolt-action rifle manufactured by Zastava in Yugoslavia, based on the proven Mauser 98 design but built with an intermediate-length action unique to the M48 series. Chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm) with a 23.25-inch barrel, this example has been sporterized, meaning it has been modified from its original military configuration for sporting or hunting use. It is described as having non-matching serial numbers and is rated in fair to poor surplus condition, with a sticking bolt, rust and pitting on the barrel, and is being sold "as is," indicating it will likely require repair or restoration before safe use. While M48 rifles are generally respected for their strength, reliability, and accuracy, this particular rifle is best suited as a restoration project, a source of spare parts, or an inexpensive hunting rifle for someone willing to invest the time and expense needed to address its mechanical and cosmetic issues.
