The Kel-Tec RDB Defender is a semi-automatic bullpup rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and 223 Remington. Its bullpup layout places the action behind the trigger, keeping the overall length short relative to its 20-inch barrel. The rifle ejects spent casings and gas downward, so the ejection stream stays clear of the shooter's line of sight and the controls work for either hand.

The rifle has a 1:7 twist barrel with 1/2x28 threads for a muzzle device or suppressor, an adjustable gas system, a 4-pound trigger pull, and an ambidextrous magazine release.
