Description
The Turkish Mauser Model 1893/38 or 1903/38, commonly stamped with "T.C. ASFA ANKARA 1936", is a fascinating example of military modernization. The 29-inch barrel version is not a rifle built from scratch in 1936. Instead, it is an older German-made Ottoman Empire Mauser (originally chambered in 7.6553mm) that was stripped down, re-barreled, and standardized by the Turkish Republic's military factories in Ankara during their massive 1930s re-armament program.
