Description
This rifle is part of the "first batch" of Model 65s ordered by the Marine Corp in WWII. The "Reising" rifles were designed to mimic the feel and function of the M1 Garand, and issued as trainer rifles. The stocks are a heavy built black walnut, the barrels were made heavy, and the sights are a post and peep, all to get trainees used to the feel of the heavy rifle. They even added witness holes in the magazine to show 10 rounds (full capacity) and 8 rounds (Garand en bloc capacity.) There was a total of around 18,500 of these rifles manufactured and this is one of the first batch of 6000 ordered. It is in very good condition, with only a few scratches and dents, and those are rather light.
