Description
The Savage Arms A17 Heavy Barrel is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in 17 HMR, designed from the ground up for that cartridge. It uses a delayed-blowback action intended for reliable cycling with standard 17 HMR loads, and the manufacturer notes peak performance with CCI A17 Varmint Tip ammunition developed for the rifle.
The rifle has a 22-inch button-rifled heavy barrel and a 42-inch overall length. It weighs 5.63 pounds and holds a 10-round rotary magazine. The bolt is hard chrome, the receiver is case-hardened carbon steel, and the bolt handle is oversized. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger is included. The rifle has no sights and is offered in a matte black finish for right-handed shooters.
